Our first official Christmas Celebration as a Club took place on Sunday, 1st December at the much loved Regent Cinema in Marple an iconic part of the fabric of Marple.
Did you know the first regular film shows started in 1911 and over the years has remained a popular past time for residents? Although there have been many changes to the location, building structures, technology and ownership we have always been fortunate to have a Cinema in Marple and more particularly to retain this historic landmark. Now owned by Edwin Gnanaprkasam, and it is through him that we were able to offer a private showing of Home Alone to our Marple Athletic Club Members. The idea, came from our very own U9s girls Manager and one of our former Marple Athletic players, Kevin Murray, of whom we are all seriously proud.
179 people made up of players, parents and coaches bought tickets for the show which included a drink, popcorn and an ice cream and brought in a £567 for the club coffers.
These comments say it all:

Last word has to go to the man himself
Kev Murray - "Biggest thanks to Edwin at the Regent for accommodating us and a huge thanks to Paul and Steve King from SPK Marketing who donated lots of chocs and sweets that were handed out after the show"
SPK Marketing sponsor 3 of our teams and have been extremely supportive of the work we do behind the scenes giving us help to support and develop both our coaches and players.
So an added thanks to them and Edwin from the Marple Athletic Committee.
