We use our Marple Athletic Development Centre for 4–6-year-olds run by JWC Sports to recruit players for our U7s mixed teams. They offer a pay to play scheme and from March onwards will be channelling players that express an interest to join our U7s teams. If you are not already participating in this session, then you will need to contact our Club Secretary who will arrange for your son or daughter to attend. If you are attending, then Jonny will already be getting you ready for the next step playing friendlies.
We do not hold trials for team places as we believe that football should be inclusive, and all players should be allowed to develop at their own pace to their full potential. However, we do expect players and parents to fully commit to a team and support the Club. This commitment means being available to play every weekend between 1st September until the end of June which is when most managers will take a few weeks off for family holidays.
We understand that you have other things going on but committing to a team means training once a week and playing matches once a week and we would expect you to be available for most if not all of these. If you have family celebrations or another activity going on when you are scheduled to play in a match, please give our managers advance warning so they know they have enough players for the weekend games. If we are unable to field a team due to low numbers, we must give the leagues a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice or we will receive a fine. A last-minute cancellation also means that the team will forfeit the match and lets the available players down.
All games from U7s to U12s are non-competitive. This means that players can learn and develop in a safe, fun and structured setting with a fully FA qualified coach.
All new players wishing to join our U7s mixed teams need to advise Sharon before the 28th March by Email only to secretary@marpleathletic.co.uk to advise us of the player name and date of birth, parents name mobile number and email address so that further information can be provided about training and match days and how to register with us.
If you decide to join the club, then you must register with us properly via the FA Player Portal. Full Instructions will be provided. Your Team Manager will need to see proof of the players age either a birth certificate or passport will do.
To qualify to play for the U7s you must be 6 years old BEFORE the 31st of August 2025.
